Girl -- 16-2 H, 6yr old Selle Francais mare.  Mark plans to train Girl for eventing and compete with her at 3-day trials.

Kenya -- 15-3 H, 6yr old Selle Francais mare.  Kelly O'rourke just started leasing Kenya and is teaching her dressage and jumping.

Girl and Kenya are half-sisters, by the same sire, Nairobi, a Selle Francais - Oldenberg - Holsteiner warmblood. They are both out of thoroghbred mares.

Nairobi's sire was Galoubet A, a world-famous jumper, who sired an even more famous jumper, Baloubet du Roet.   Click the links to read the wikipedia articles about the Selle Francais breed, and in-particular, Girl's and Kenya's grandsire and uncle.

These two horses have been purchased from Mark and Katie's eventing instructor, Jan Fisk, who bred and raised Girl and Kenya at Northbrook Eventing Center.  They have had good basic training which instilled excellent manners and promoted good balance and free movement under saddle.  Now they're ready to start learning beginner-novice level dressage and jumping.
